Where ASHRAE Meets Strathclyde

The University of Strathclyde is home to four faculties and dozens of departments, and while ASHRAE's roots lie in heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration, the reach of our discipline extends far beyond engineering alone. Sustainable buildings, healthy indoor environments, and energy-efficient design sit at the intersection of technical innovation, policy, human behaviour, and business, which means relevant research, teaching, and innovation is happening across nearly every part of this university, not just within our own faculty.

Some departments contribute directly to ASHRAE's core focus areas, HVAC&R systems, building services, environmental engineering, and sustainable design. Others contribute more indirectly but no less meaningfully, through research into occupant health and wellbeing, policy and regulation shaping the built environment, materials science, data and computational modelling, or the economics and management driving sustainable innovation forward.
