Our Board of officials

The University of Strathclyde ASHRAE Student Branch is led by an interim committee elected following the branch's inauguration in April 2025. The committee is responsible for organising events, managing branch activities, and representing members within the ASHRAE UK Chapter network.
Dr Carolina Recart
Branch Advisor
Carolina is a Chancellor’s Fellow in Architecture and Health at the University of Strathclyde and the academic advisor to the ASHRAE Strathclyde Student Branch. An architect by training with a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Washington, Seattle, she specialises in building physics, including energy retrofits, hygrothermal performance, and how occupants use energy in their homes. Her research works to lower energy demand across the existing building stock while weighing the economic and environmental trade-offs, and she teaches regenerative design, and building energy simulation at Strathclyde. She is glad to support students building their careers in the field.
Praveen Sirimanne
Interim President
Praveen is a mechanical engineer pursuing an interdisciplinary PhD in human–building interactions, focusing on context-aware systems that link occupant behaviour, indoor environmental quality, and energy efficiency in residential buildings. Alongside his doctoral research, he works on projects spanning engineering, computing, and instructional design.
Stephanie Onyia
Interim Vice-President
Stephanie is a doctoral researcher at the University of Strathclyde’s EICCOH Centre for Doctoral Training, researching indoor air quality, occupant behaviour, building performance, and human health, with a focus on households with young children. With a background in architecture and expertise in building design and digital technologies, her interests lie at the intersection of sustainable design, indoor environmental quality, and health. As Interim Vice-President of the University of Strathclyde, ASHRAE Student Chapter 2026-2027 Session, she supports student engagement, professional development, and knowledge exchange across the built environment.
Temiloluwa Owolabi
Interim Secretary
Temiloluwa is a PhD candidate in Architecture at the University of Strathclyde. Her research develops data-driven methods for assessing social housing performance using continuous environmental monitoring to identify housing vulnerability and inform performance-based housing policy, with a focus on indoor environmental quality, occupant health, and building resilience.
