Current Committee
The University of Strathclyde ASHRAE Student Branch is led by an interim committee elected following the branch’s inauguration in April 2025. The committee is responsible for organising events, managing branch activities, and representing members within the ASHRAE UK Chapter network.

Dr Carolina Recart
Branch Advisor
Dr Recart is a Strathclyde Chancellor’s Fellow in Architecture and Health. She is an architect by training and holds a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Washington, where her doctoral research explored the unintended consequences of energy retrofits. Her work aims to improve the energy performance of residential buildings and to envision innovative, low-energy futures for the built environment.

Praveen Sirimanne
Interim President
Praveen is a doctoral researcher in Architecture at Strathclyde. He researches the influence of occupant behaviour on indoor environmental quality and energy efficiency in residential buildings, with a particular focus on understanding ventilating behaviour in Scottish dwellings to inform effective behavioural interventions.

Stephanie Onyia
Interim Vice-President
Stephanie is a PhD candidate at the University of Strathclyde. Her research focuses on translating evidence into action by designing sustainable and tailored indoor air quality interventions for vulnerable groups.
